James F. W. May, collector of the May Natural History Museum exhibition, spent over eighty years traveling and exploring the world to accumulate what is now considered one of the world's outstanding collections of giant insects, related creatures and rare artifacts. This historic collection has been shown by his son, John M.May and family, throughout the US and Canada until this world-renowned attraction was permanently based in Colorado Springs in the 1940’s. Visitors will enjoy displays of over 7,000 fascinating invertebrates, short films on insects and/or arachnids, and an extensive gift shop with many books, gifts and other educational materials. A “must-see” for artists, teachers, explorers, aspiring entomologists and kids of all ages!
