Cripple Creek Ice Festival
What better way to celebrate Punxsutawney Phil’s recent prediction than an ice festival? Gain some elevation this week with a beautiful drive up to Cripple Creek. February 11-19, 2017
Last Year's Ice Festival - 2016
Last year’s ice festival was plagued with unseasonably warm weather — great for visitors but lousy for the ice. They struggled to keep everything frozen in February at over 9,000 feet in elevation. Colorado, you so crazy.
Cripple Creek Ice Festival -- 2017
Now in its tenth year, the ice festival promises to give us the best of a mild Colorado wintery day, that should still keep the ice at it’s optimum temperature. Several new carvers will be debuting their skills and this year’s theme, “Safari in Ice,” will have lots of fun things for the youngsters and the young at heart. Several sculptures are made just for the kiddos, with ice slides, mazes, and carnival-like games. The grown kids can enjoy the ice bar complete with liquor luge, for some extra icy goodness. Be sure to check out the street vendors and Official Ice Fest Merchandise Store!
