Top Bed and Breakfast Hotels in Colorado Springs

Do you prefer your hotels with a personal touch? While hotels and house rentals can get the job done in putting a roof over your head, sometimes you just want to treat yourself. That’s where a bed and breakfast can make all your wishes come true. We aren’t talking about renting a remodeled garden shed with $160 cleaning fees and the sketchy requirement to “say you live there” if anyone asks. We are referring to the classic B&B experience, where a real breakfast is served daily and a knowledgeable host is onsite to accommodate your needs.

Interested? We thought so. These local bed and breakfasts are located in some of the most popular areas of Colorado Springs and they have perfected the art of crafting an elevated guest experience.

Old Town Guest House Bed and Breakfast

The Old Town Guest House has just about everything a guest could want in a local bed and breakfast. First, there’s its unbelievable location in the heart of Old Colorado City. You are mere steps from popular bars, unique shopping and some of the best dining in the Pikes Peak region. The hotel is close to Highway 24 and I-25 (but not so close you’re hearing it all night), as well as several popular bike trails and Manitou Springs. But location is not the only thing this place has going for it. The breakfast is also quite good.

You won’t be relegated to chiseling cold grits into styrofoam bowls or drinking watered down OJ with equally watery coffee. Old Town prepares a delicious spread each day and even offers in-room breakfast trays. You can also request a breakfast bag to go if you have an early flight or want to hit the trails at sunrise. Breakfasts are filling and have favorites like eggs, bacon and the occasional stack of pancakes. They will accommodate dietary preferences to the best of their abilities, too.

The rooms themselves are lovely and provide extras not commonly found in other bed and breakfast locales. Enjoy a soak in the private hot tub, sip coffee as you enjoy views of the Rockies, or select one of their rooms with a private steam shower/sauna combination. Many of the rooms have their own fireplaces and all of them have their own unique theme and decor to match.

The Avenue Hotel in Manitou Springs

The Avenue Hotel is an elegant stop for visitors to Manitou Springs and the Pikes Peak region. Located in a 6,000-square-foot mansion on Manitou Avenue, this popular bed and breakfast gives you access to everything you want to see in Colorado, like America’s Mountain and the Cog Railway, or Cave of the Winds and Garden of the Gods. It’s an easy walk right out the front door to find art galleries, local restaurants, unique shops and nightlife.

The hotel itself is visual perfection. The 137-year-old mansion has been maintained, repaired and restored to highlight its beautiful architecture and envelope guests in the classic B&B aesthetic. There are parlors and a large kitchen for socializing, as well as a fully equipped nursery for parents. A large hot tub provides a place to relax and multiple workstations offer you a reason to need it.

As for the breakfast, guests rave about the flavor, noting that the staff tries to ensure a different gourmet meal for every day. The food tastes great and they work hard to ensure that guests are well-fueled for their Colorado adventures. They even offer free snacks, coffee and tea all day and the occasional plate of cookies. Who doesn’t love unexpected cookies?

Holden House Bed and Breakfast Inn

The first thing you see when you pull up to Holden House in Old Colorado City is the lovely architecture and colorful paint. Holden House could hold its own alongside the Painted Ladies of San Francisco, with sky blue exteriors and blush gingerbread accents framing a sweeping front porch. It has easy access to I-25 and Highway 24 while still providing guests with the quiet and privacy of Old Colorado City’s historic neighborhoods.

The interior of the house is decorated with the same attention to detail. Antique furniture graces every room, including the bathrooms, bedrooms and common areas. The bedrooms are enormous and many have adjoining private rooms for extra space. Several of the rooms have oversized tubs just perfect for two. Speaking of two, Holden House is for adults 21+, which is probably why they can offer complimentary wine service in the common areas in the afternoon. That means you can make Holden House your go-to for romantic getaways or a vacation for quiet reflection.

A full breakfast is served each morning, with the option for in-room service for an additional fee. The menu can vary from traditional favorites to special treats like German puff pancakes and a coordinating rich, spiced apple topping. All meals have extras like fresh fruit and plentiful cups of coffee and tea. Welcome cookies and snacks are also provided. There are two seatings for breakfast, so you can take a little extra time for sleeping in or getting ready for the day.

The Saint Mary’s Inn Bed and Breakfast

Colorado Springs’ westside doesn’t have all the bed and breakfast hotels. There’s also an award-winning location just minutes from downtown in historic Old North End. Saint Mary’s has frequently won the “Best of” in both local papers, as well as accolades from Trip Advisor. It is a part of the city’s early history, with the property dating back 150 years and the house itself well over 100 years. The mansion has undergone many iterations over time, including designation as an apartment building for women.

Despite their existence in an old Victorian, the rooms have a very updated feel. There are plenty of old-fashioned touches, but the rooms feel anything but old. Several of the bathrooms contain jacuzzi tubs or other spa-style amenities. One suite even offers a kitchenette for guests who like to eat in.

Speaking of eating in, let’s get to breakfast. Based on the reviews and awards, we are fairly certain that food is the star of the show. In a mansion. In one of the most beautiful historic neighborhoods in Colorado. It’s that good. Breakfast is served daily at a communal table and has individual courses. You can spark your appetite with the first round of fresh fruit before tackling the day’s sweet surprise — French toast, pancakes or waffles. Then there is the array of breakfast meats and a rotating selection of egg dishes including a perfect benny (eggs benedict) or huevos rancheros. They are not shy about the portions so come ready to eat up. You have lots of important things to do and this is the most important meal of the day.

For convenience, luxury and service that goes the extra mile, a bed and breakfast provides the perfect place to stay during your visit to the Pikes Peak region or for a romantic special occasion. Don’t settle for accommodations that call themselves a B&B while lacking all the best reasons to stay in one. These hotels are made for a relaxing, memorable adventure.

Why can it be so stressful to plan something that’s supposed to be so much fun? We get it. That’s why ordering your FREE visitor guide to Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region is like having your own travel planner on speed dial.
