Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off

The Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off is an annual hot air balloon festival that takes place over Labor Day weekend, offering a spectacular display of colorful balloons taking flight at dawn. This family-friendly event, held in Memorial Park, attracts thousands of visitors each year to witness the vibrant lift-offs, as well as enjoy various activities, including live entertainment, food vendors, and interactive experiences. Pilots from across the country gather to participate in the lift-off, creating a breathtaking spectacle as the balloons ascend into the sky against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. 6th Annual Quilt Showcase & Boutique

“We’re so excited to offer our annual fundraising event again, for the sixth year, in this beautiful venue. We have gained a presence over the last few years and hope those who have visited us before will come again! It’s across the street from the Commonwheel Art Festival in Memorial Park on the same weekend,” says PPQG Silent Auction Co-Chairperson, Janie Levanger. There will also be a display of this year’s PPQG quilt challenge entries, plus educational presentations about quilts in general (including vintage quilts). Labor Day Vintage Base Ball

Cheer on our Camp Creek Cloud Busters (the Rock Ledge Ranch home team) and members from the Vintage Base Ball Association at our annual Labor Day vintage 1880s style base ball match. The Cloud Busters are no “farm team,” but need your support to cheer them on to victory! Influence the umpire’s call in your team’s favor! Enjoy the sights and sounds of an American historic pastime. 52nd Annual Commonwheel Art Festival

Commonwheel is considered the premiere art festival in the Pikes Peak Region. Professional and emerging artists paint various scenes in and around the City of Victor and many nearby legendary 1890s gold mining sites. JONGO: Afro-Brazilian Circle Dance

Afro-Brazilian tradition that involves music, dance and singing. An ancestor of Samba, full of joy and empowerment. Jongo is a traditional Brazilian dance and musical style with strong African roots, especially associated with communities in southeastern Brazil. It combines drumming, singing, and dancing, often performed in a circle. Jongo was historically practiced by enslaved Africans and their descendants and has played an important role in preserving African cultural traditions in Brazil. Jongo, a form of expression using singing, dancing and drumming, was created by enslaved African men and women. Forced to work on coffee farms in southeastern Brazil, these slaves offered up their injustices to Catholic saints and African deities in hopes of being granted divine protection. 'Stronger Together'

Cottonwood Center for the Arts in partnership with the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region (COPPR) is thrilled to present a juried exhibition for the month of September: STRONGER TOGETHER. This installation features artworks created in response to an open call to the public celebrating the 20th anniversary of COPPR, underwritten by Herman Tiemens. This project was designed to foster a deeper connection between local creative organizations and local creatives, to benefit our community at large. As inspiration for this call, COPPR and Herman Tiemens selected a diverse spectrum of creative brands from our community as subject matter. We asked artists to create artworks honoring the ethos and unique character of their chosen organization(s), highlighting their vital role in our region’s cultural identity. Entries of all mediums and styles were accepted. This exhibition is sponsored by Purple Mountain Group at Morgan Stanley.
