Family Adventure

Day 2

Family Adventure, here we come!

With today’s busy schedules and the distraction of the shiny screens, it can be really hard to get the whole family together and connected. Time with your kids seems to be flying by, and they’ll be moving out before you know it. Now’s your chance to bond and build memories you’ll all carry with you the rest of your lives. We’re here to help you find those once in a lifetime experiences, and if a few of them aren’t cellphone friendly, well all the better! Welcome to your perfect family adventure.

Breakfast of Champions

Rudy’s Little Hideaway is a local favorite for breakfast and if you’re new to Colorado cuisine, jump in feet first with something smothered in green chile. Maybe not the pancakes, but everything else is better for it!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

America's only mountain zoo

Rated as one of the top zoos in the country, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo blends the animals’ habitats with the visitor’s in a very organic way. Feed one of the largest giraffe herds in North America, get a selfie with the wallabies as you walk through the Down Under exhibit or let a budgie land in your hair.
Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a light jacket for the cooler mountain air.

Local’s Tip: Don’t miss the Colorado exhibit, replete with grizzly bears, mountain lions, moose and wolves.
Time allowance: 3-4 hours

So hungry I could eat a bear!

Grab a bit to eat at the Grizzly Grill inside the zoo. They have burgers, homemade pizzas, sandwiches, ice cream, and one heck of a view of the city.

Broadmoor Seven Falls

The grandest mile of scenery

At the end of the “grandest mile of scenery” is a series of 7 waterfalls, cascading down a 180 foot box canyon. The view will take your breath away! The climb up 224 steps to the top of the falls? Well, that’ll leave you breathless, for more than one reason!

Local’s Tip: Grab the tram from the gate to the falls for only $1, but walk back down to enjoy the view!
Time allowance: 2 hours

Food with a view

At the base of Seven Falls is Restaurant 1858, with a menu designed by 5-star Broadmoor Hotel. They specialize in local trout and sustainably-raised meats. So very Colorado.
