5 day family adventure
Family Adventure Day 2
We hope you got a great night’s sleep! One of the best parts of living in Colorado is that clean mountain air and the way it cools things off after a toasty summer day. You and your crew are in for an adventure today, so clear plenty of memory in your camera, strap on some sturdy shoes, grab a jacket and go!
Breakfast of Champions
Mother Muff’s is a local favorite for breakfast and if you’re new to Colorado cuisine, jump in feet first with something smothered in green chili. Maybe not the pancakes, but everything else is better for it!
4. Adventures Out West
Hang on to your hat!
Adventures Out West has been the premier adventure outfitter in Colorado since the ’70’s, which means there’s no one better to entrust your family’s safety and fun! You can choose from all sorts of fun activities with AOW. Start with their Jeep tours and take your pick from a scenic tour of Garden of the Gods, a historic tour through our Old West High Country or the ultimate trip up the Pikes Peak Highway. Their Jeeps are all custom built to allow maximum views of those awesome vistas. Maybe you’re looking to get above it all and enjoy a bird’s eye view of our fair city. Adventures Out West’s balloon rides are just the ticket. Take in the view of the whole front range — it’s sure to take your breath away! From that balloon, you’ll see a few places you want to get a closer look at. We recommend an easy jaunt through Garden of the Gods by Segway. The Segway tour allows you to get up close and personal to so many amazing places without having to climb up hills. Save some of that energy for your next adventure, like the Manitou Ziplines. It’s literally the closest humans ever get to flying, and the backdrop in Manitou can’t be beat!
Having trouble deciding? That’s okay too, they have packages available to keep you playing and squealing in delight all day long.
Time to refuel!
Paninos is a local family favorite and is on the way from Adventures Out West to Seven Falls. They have pizza, salads and sandwiches, but are best known for their paninos — we recommend the Grinder.
5. Broadmoor Seven Falls
The grandest mile of scenery
Colorado doesn’t have a lot of natural water features, but it absolutely shows off when it does! Nestled at the end of what is known as “The Grandest Mile of Scenery in Colorado” and spilling down 180 foot tall box canyon,…read more
Test your endurance by climbing all 224 steps to the top of the falls. The stairs climb right along the falls, for a truly epic peek at this natural wonder. Or take a more relaxing approach via elevator to the Eagle’s Nest viewing platform. This will bring you out across the canyon, the only way to really take it all in at once, and is the best photo opp for your obligatory Insta-selfie. Need a little more time to soak in all that grandeur? Pull up a rocking chair in the shade at the base of the falls, and let that spectacular view wash over you. You can even enjoy some great Colorado cuisine at Restaurant 1858. We recommend the patio seating, so you don’t miss anything!
Seven Falls has been drawing visitors for over 100 years, big names like John Wayne and Babe Ruth, just to name a few.
Food with a view
At the base of Seven Falls is Restaurant 1858, with a menu designed by the Forbes Five-Star Broadmoor Hotel. They specialize in local trout and sustainably-raised meats. So very Colorado.
