Family Adventure

Day 3

Family Adventure, here we come!

With today’s busy schedules and the distraction of the shiny screens, it can be really hard to get the whole family together and connected. Time with your kids seems to be flying by, and they’ll be moving out before you know it. Now’s your chance to bond and build memories you’ll all carry with you the rest of your lives. We’re here to help you find those once in a lifetime experiences, and if a few of them aren’t cellphone friendly, well all the better! Welcome to your perfect family adventure.

Fuel up for a big day!

We’ve got a big day planned for you, so grab a good breakfast and get ready to head south. We’re big fans of the Omelette Parlor over on Fillmore. Be sure to get a glass of their fresh squeezed orange juice.

Echo Canyon River Expedition

Instant family fun, just add water

Mornings are the best time to hit the river, and when you’re planning your family’s adventure, Echo Canyon is the best in the business. With more training and experience than any other outfitter, they’re the only ones I’d trust my family to!
Whether you’re looking for an easy family float or an exciting white water experience, they’ve got the perfect adventure for you.

Local’s Tip: Be sure to purchase the photo package, because there are no cellphones on the river!
Time allowance: 3-4 hours

8 mile bar and grill

8 Mile Bar and Grill is a great place to grab a burger or salad, a Colorado crafted brew, and share your river stories with the other patrons. The huge garage doors will give you all the clean rocky mountain air with plenty of shade. The food is great, but that view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains is better.

Royal Gorge Bridge and Park

956 feet above it all

Colorado is bursting with natural beauty. It’s everywhere you look. But few places will take your breath away and overwhelm you with a sense of the sublime the way that Royal Gorge does. There are several ways to cross the gorge: a leisurely stroll across the bridge, a gondola ride from rim to rim, or the zip line 1200 feet above the Arkansas River.
The little kids in your family will love the Tommy Knocker Playland, and the older kids will love the Royal Rush Skycoaster.

Local’s Tip: Look for your state’s flag along the bridge. It’s a great photo op!

While you’re gorge-side

Lots of restaurants in Colorado can boast a great view, but there are only two with this view. Grab dinner with the family at Cafe 1230 or Bridge View BBQ. It’ll give you an excuse to soak in that view a little longer.
