Junior Ranger Walk

Jr. Ranger booklet and awards included! Join Park Interpreter and Jr. Ranger co-author Jennifer Heiny for this family-friendly walk! After a brief introduction inside, families will leisurely walk out into the Park from the Visitor and Nature Center. This informal walk will be loosely focused on the Junior Ranger booklet and can cover anything we are seeing. Sunscreen, sturdy shoes and water recommended! If there is inclement weather, the focus will shift to just indoors with touch tables and museum challenges. Meet in the Red Rocks Room on the second floor. 'The Women of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb'

The Manitou Springs Heritage Museum will present “The Women of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb” leading up to the June 21 race. Learn more about Loni Unser, who continues to blaze the trail for her legendary racing family, and other pioneering women including Michelle Mouton, who paved the way for her female successors. The exhibit will include exciting race photos, including ones taken by Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Jackson. Watch our collection of PPIHC videos, including the award-winning “The Ari Vatanen Climb Dance” and the “Vahsholtz Family: 3 Generations of Racing to the Clouds.” Enjoy our Hill Climb artifacts and ephemera, including an authentic 1922 vintage race car. Wednesday Morning Guided Walks in the Garden of the Gods

Experience the Park’s natural beauty and unique features by joining this expanded guided nature walk. Participants will enjoy an introduction along Gateway Trail to the Central Garden’s most remarkable sights. The walk will cover about one mile over smooth, paved trails and will typically last around 90 minutes. Upon arrival at the Central Garden, participants may continue with the guide for further exploration, or continue to explore independently. Those who prefer can also return to the Visitor Center with the guide. Weather dependent. Additional parking is available across the street in Parking Lot #1. Please give yourself time to park and walk to the Visitor and Nature Center.
