Iron Springs Melodrama and Dinner Theater
The snapshot
Your voice goes hoarse from cheering. Laughter echoes off the timber walls. The piano rolls into another number, and suddenly you're singing along with strangers who feel like old friends.
The full experience
The piano strikes its first chord, and a hush falls over the room. Then the villain slinks onto the stage—and suddenly every table erupts. Boos cascade from the rafters. Napkins wave like white flags of surrender to the silliness. A stranger at the next table catches your eye, and you’re both grinning before the hero even makes an entrance.
This is Iron Springs Chateau, tucked into the hills above Manitou Springs, where the only drama you’ll welcome into your life unfolds under warm lights just feet from your seat.
The cast prowls between tables, locking eyes with audience members, drawing you into the story whether you planned to participate or not. When the hero triumphs, your cheers blend with dozens of others until the timber walls seem to hum. During intermission, the singalong begins—voices confident and wobbly alike rising together, no judgment, just joy. By the time the Vaudeville routines and comedy skits roll out, your cheeks ache from laughing, and your voice has gone slightly hoarse.
Bring the kids. They’ll stomp their feet during the chase scenes and shout warnings to the heroine. They’ll remember this.
The melodramas rotate with the seasons, so the stage transforms throughout the year—cozy holiday performances in winter, a wickedly fun 18+ show around Halloween. Regulars keep coming back because no two visits feel the same, yet something essential never changes: that moment when the lights dim, the music swells, and a roomful of strangers becomes a chorus.

Your Local Guide, PK McPherson
Third-generation Colorado Springs native and mom, sharing the secrets that turn good trips into unforgettable adventures.
There aren't many places where I can take my 80 year-old mother in law, and my 4 year old son, and have them both howling with laughter. This one is a joy for the whole crew. Even the teenagers might start a little too cool but by the end, they're cheering and booing with the rest of us.

FAQs about Iron Springs Melodrama and Dinner Theater
Are Iron Springs Chateau shows family-friendly?
Their shows are very family-friendly and audience participation is encouraged. Kids will have just as much fun cheering the hero and booing the villain as you do!
Do I need reservations?
Not always! On regular show nights, walk ins are welcome. However, having a reservation will guarantee that you can get in. There’s nothing more disappointing than coming all the way to the Iron Springs Chateau only to be turned away because they’re sold out. We would advise you to make reservations for special events like The Rocky Horror Picture Show or holiday specials. Those sell out very fast and offer a limited run.
What do they serve for dinner?
Dinner is a three-course meal that includes salad, your choice of pot roast or herb-roasted chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and rice pilaf. The Chateau serves fruit cobbler for dessert. Coffee and tea are included and the Chateau has a full bar for additional options. The snack bar carries many of the same options you’ll find at the movies, including candy!
Is there history to the Chateau?
Iron Springs Chateau began as a candy and cigar store. The owner operated it for several years, beginning in 1880. Iron Springs changed owners several times before the Iron Springs Company purchased it and began to sell the “Iron Springs” mineral water commercially. It sold in 1887 to J.G. Hiestand, who built the original building now known as the Iron Springs Chateau Melodrama Dinner Theater.
Are we allowed to cheer and boo at the shows?
Not only are you allowed, you’re encouraged! Iron Springs Chateau brings the classic melodrama to life with plenty of audience interaction. Here’s a secret: The more you engage, the more the actors like to work the crowd. Give them the cheers (and boos) they love!
