Electric Safari
Presented by Cheyenne Mountain Zoo at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Colorado Springs, CO
Electric Safari at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is the only place in Colorado where you can enjoy a holiday-safari themed drone show, and explore 50 acres of one-of-a-kind light sculptures, twinkling light displays, and larger-than-life illuminated inflatable animals while hand-feeding a giraffe herd on the side of a mountain! (Drone show and inflatables are weather dependent). For five consecutive years, Electric Safari was ranked the 3rd Best Zoo Lights in the U.S. by USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers' Choice Awards—until last year, when it climbed to 2nd place. This year's event will celebrate 35 years of holiday cheer, and Santa Claus will be listening to wishes December 5 – 23. Come celebrate the holiday season with sparkling lights, animals and fun for the whole family! For tickets and all the details, visit cmzoo.org/electric. Advance timed tickets are required for members and non-members. Zoo member tickets are free, but must be reserved in advance. Due to the popularity of Electric Safari, some times and nights may sell out in advance. Everyone visiting the Zoo must have their own advance e-ticket, including children age 2 and under. Discounted tickets (senior and military) will be validated at the front gate with the appropriate ID. Balanced Rook Chess Club
Presented by Balanced Rook Chess Club at Wackadoo Brewing Colorado Springs, CO
Formerly the Briargate Chess Club, we moved out of the 21c Library as we outgrew it and into an establishment with a fun, friendly atmosphere. We are a social chess club with players of all skill levels, from beginners just learning chess to highly rated tournament players that are happy to give pointers to those who are less experienced (strategy/tactics/openings/endgame theory/books to read/etc). All ages are welcome as Wackadoo is a family friendly establishment and serves more than just beer. We ask that parents stay with your children, and you can buy a soda/beer and/or a burger while they play. Never been to a chess club and not sure what to expect? It’s free, come down between 6-9pm, say hello to me (Lloyd) and I’ll get you started. You can watch a game in progress (no kibitzing), or sit down at one of the club provided tournament grade chess sets and invite anyone who is free to play. After your game you can rematch, invite someone else to play, or take a break and buy a beer to watch others play, talk chess, or help analyze a finished game.
