CC Summer Music Festival: Children's Orchestra Concert
Presented by Colorado College Summer Music Festival at Cornerstone Arts Center Richard F. Celeste Theatre Colorado Springs, CO
The classic children's tale is performed by the Festival Orchestra, along with celebrated mime Bill Bowers and narrator Virginia Barron, and accompanied by Bemis student artwork. Hailed by critics as the most accomplished and renowned mime of his generation, Bowers currently performs and teaches the art of physical storytelling throughout the world. His methods and exploration of universal truths transcend the spoken word to educate and touch audiences. A passionate student and educator, Bowers studied with the legendary Marcel Marceau and currently serves on the faculties of New York University, Stella Adler Conservatory, and William Esper Studios. 'The Garbologists'

Written by Lindsay Joelle and Directed by GerRee Hinshaw. Danny is a white, blue-collar, born-and-bred New Yorker. Marlowe is Black, Ivy-League-educated, and just joined the sanitation department. They’ve got one thing in common: the route. Over the course of countless trash pickups, this odd couple bickers, bonds, and uncovers unexpected truths about themselves—and the city they serve. Directed by GerRee Hinshaw (Dream Hou$e), The Garbologists is a sharp and heartfelt comedy about finding connection in the mess of everyday life. It closes our 50th season with grit, laughter, and plenty of trash talk. UCCS students are always free. Contact the box office in person or by phone with your student ID to reserve seats. 'The Women of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb'

The Manitou Springs Heritage Museum will present “The Women of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb” leading up to the June 21 race. Learn more about Loni Unser, who continues to blaze the trail for her legendary racing family, and other pioneering women including Michelle Mouton, who paved the way for her female successors. The exhibit will include exciting race photos, including ones taken by Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Jackson. Watch our collection of PPIHC videos, including the award-winning “The Ari Vatanen Climb Dance” and the “Vahsholtz Family: 3 Generations of Racing to the Clouds.” Enjoy our Hill Climb artifacts and ephemera, including an authentic 1922 vintage race car. 'Under the Colorado Moon'

Last seen on the Butte stage in 2021, “Under the Colorado Moon” tells the story of gentleman Brett Armstrong. In financial distress after a lost wager and falsely accused of forgery, Brett must fake his own death and flee for a new life in the rough and tumble mountain town of Cripple Creek, CO. He assumes a new identity and joins a team of hard rock miners who toil under the thumb of Roy Shatterly, a man as cruel as he is rich. All is well until Armstrong falls for a beautiful and spirited mule skinner who has also caught Shatterly’s eye. Now, Armstrong must either deny his love or risk his freedom...and quite possibly his life!
