First and Main Summer Concert Series
Presented by First & Main Town Center at First & Main Town Center Colorado Springs, CO
A beloved tradition returns this summer as the First & Main Summer Concert Series brings FREE live music and community connection to Friday evenings in June and July. Held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the park across from Cinemark at First & Main Town Center, the series has been a hallmark of summer in Colorado Springs for over 25 years. Each week features a different local band, offering a diverse mix of sounds and genres for all ages. More than just a concert, the series creates a welcoming, family-friendly environment where residents can gather and unwind. Enjoy balloon animals by Marvelous Marc, local pop-up vendors, prizes, and more, all set within one of the city’s most vibrant gathering spaces! Attendees are encouraged to make an evening of it by shopping, dining, or catching a movie before or after the show. Family Exploration Day

Discover rare historic race cars and carriages, and explore unique Penrose family artifacts and regional history, including a new exhibit celebrating the early days of Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Participate in a philanthropy activity by voting for one of four local organizations to receive a share of a $10,000 El Pomar Foundation contribution: Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College, Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, or Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. To celebrate the centennial of Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, founded by Spencer Penrose in 1926, Family Exploration Day will feature a fun zoo-themed twist. This signature event honors two outstanding writers—one nationally recognized and one local voice—whose work reflects the depth and impact of the written word. The 2026 Frank Waters Award will be presented to acclaimed author and environmental writer Terry Tempest Williams, known for her powerful explorations of nature, culture, and the American West. The Golden Quill Award will honor Nancy Bentley, a celebrated local author, filmmaker, and educator whose work has enriched the Pikes Peak region and inspired readers of all ages. The 2026 Pikes Peak Regional History Symposium celebrates the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood with a two-part event featuring a day of films and a day of lectures from students, filmmakers, and leading scholars, each revealing how the Pikes Peak Region has shaped the course of Colorado history. A powerful reexamination of William Jackson Palmer looks beyond the familiar story to uncover his broader impact on Colorado and beyond. A fresh look at the Cripple Creek miners’ strike captures a turning point that reshaped labor in the state. The political battles behind Amendments 1 and 2 in 1992 reveal how Colorado Springs helped drive changes that still define Colorado politics today. New perspectives on Zebulon Pike challenge what we think we know about his expedition. The fight for water in Colorado Springs takes center stage as a defining struggle that helped set lasting precedents across the state. At Evergreen Cemetery, overlooked figures emerge whose lives left a lasting mark on Colorado’s early history. And in the story of Margaret Reid and the Pikes Peak Library District, a local vision becomes a model that reshaped library service across Colorado. The program also features student films, including award-winning documentaries from the 2026 History Day competition, alongside original work from filmmakers exploring the region’s past in new ways.
