Sharing the Spirit of America - Reading of the Declaration of Independence
Presented by The Exchange Club of Falcon at Falcon Fire Station 3 Peyton, CO
On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence inside the Pennsylvania State House (now Independence Hall) in Philadelphia. Four days later, on July 8, 1776, after the Declaration was printed and distributed, the citizens of Philadelphia were summoned to the State House Yard by the bells of the city. Then, Colonel John Nixon publicly read the Declaration of Independence. Led by America 250 Hawai'i, Americans in all 50 States and 16 Territories of the United States will read the Declaration of Independence 'together' on July 8, 2026. America spans some 9.500 miles from one extreme to the other (the Caribbean across North America to the western edge of the Pacific). The Exchange Club of Falcon is hosting a public reading of the Declaration of Independence.There are 5 parts of the Declaration of Independence and we will have five people reading the Declaration. Wildflower Wednesday
Presented by Cheyenne Mountain State Park at Cheyenne Mountain State Park Visitor Center Colorado Springs, CO
Please join us for Wildflower Wednesday, where we will hunt for and discuss "what is blooming” on various trails in the park. The hike is led by a volunteer naturalist, well-versed in the park's trails and botany. Meet at the Visitor Center and be ready to leave by 9:00. Please wear closed toe shoes, and bring water, sunscreen and a camera (if you like). Space is limited to 30 people and registration is required through this link. This is a popular hike, so we keep a waiting list. If you sign up and later find out that you cannot make it, please cancel your reservation so that someone else can have a spot. Additionally, if you have a group of 5 or more, please contact us and we will try to accommodate your group on a separate hike. Cancellations, if they happen, will be via email... so check your messages before the hike to make sure it has not been changed. The hike is free, but a valid park pass is required on all vehicles that enter the park. Passes may be purchased at the Visitor Center. Join in these open air, all-level practices. Each class will feature dynamic sequences of postures that build strength, flexibility, and balance. Guided by the rhythm of your breath, you will leave feeling grounded, refreshed and connected to the beauty around you. Enjoy the fresh air, natural surroundings, and a chance to move with intention in a peaceful outdoor setting. Three different yoga instructors will provide hour-long morning sessions throughout the Festival. Vanessa Nassif (Wednesdays & Thursdays) For over two decades, Vanessa has been a dedicated full-time educator, supporting individuals, training programs, and corporations through the lens of yoga and anatomy. As the former Co-Director of Education for Bhakti Barn’s teacher training, she spent eight years developing comprehensive 200 and 300-hour certification programs with a multi-disciplinary faculty. Vanessa’s commitment to healing was forged at age 20. While a student at NYU, a life-altering medical crisis shifted her path from theater to wellness. Emerging with deep wisdom and a devotion to service, she now channels that resilience into her work as an advisor and educator. After 23 years in the NYC metro, Vanessa and her husband are grateful for a new chapter in Manitou Springs. Rebecca Burdick (Fridays) A E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, Rebecca is a native of east Tennessee, but currently resides in Colorado Springs where she teaches public yoga classes and teacher training programs with Cambio Yoga, a popular and award winning donation based studio in the heart of the Springs. Poetry and Pottery

We provide all the materials, just bring your imagination and sense of fun. Pottery teachers will show you how to use a potting wheel. You can come back the next week to pick up your pot to glaze it and take it home! Hand building is available, too. Write poems with the support of writing mentors using our prompts and other materials to got started. Write group poems with the direction of the mentors. Contribute to a community poem that will be published at the end of July. All ages and abilities are most welcome to join in. There will soup available if you are hungry. Experience the Park’s natural beauty and unique features by joining this expanded guided nature walk. Participants will enjoy an introduction along Gateway Trail to the Central Garden’s most remarkable sights. The walk will cover about one mile over smooth, paved trails and will typically last around 90 minutes. Upon arrival at the Central Garden, participants may continue with the guide for further exploration, or continue to explore independently. Those who prefer can also return to the Visitor Center with the guide. Weather dependent. Additional parking is available across the street in Parking Lot #1. Please give yourself time to park and walk to the Visitor and Nature Center. PPLD Summer Adventure Celebration Concert featuring Steve Weeks

Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) is changing its Summer Adventure Celebrations, presented by Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District, to a series of concert celebrations spread throughout the two-month reading program. This exciting new line up kicks off June 1st at Library 21c and East Library with two concerts at each location. While you are there, don’t forget to register for Summer Adventure and pick up your registration prizes! The concert celebrations kick off opening day of Summer Adventure, Mon., June 1, at East Library and Library 21c. There will be a total of four concerts that day, at 2 p.m. and at 3:30 p.m. at both locations. The celebrations continue at 10:30 a.m. at High Prairie Library on Sat., June 13, and at 6 p.m. on Fri., July 10, at Palmer Lake Library. Both concerts mark the mid-point of the program, which encourages families – adults and children alike – to read together to avoid the summer slump of lost reading skills during the break from school. The musical fun wraps up at Fountain Library at 10:30 a.m. on Fri., July 17, and at 6 p.m. on Wed., July 29 at Manitou Springs Library.
