Opera Bus Pre-Event: 'What’s All the Singing About?'
Presented by KCME 88.7 FM at KCME Studio Colorado Springs, CO
Once infamously described as "an exotic and irrational entertainment," what we know as opera was originally conceived as a union of several arts: poetry, music, acting, stagecraft, and dance. Four hundred years later, is opera still relevant? Why does it persist? As Robert Benchley once remarked, "Opera is where a guy gets stabbed in the back, and instead of dying, he sings." So let's explore what the singing is about and what it's been like throughout the history of this unique art form. This calendar listing is brought to you by Peak Radar, the Pikes Peak region's one-stop, online website for arts and entertainment events, powered by the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region.

Creatively Engaged: Arts Policy & Legislative Recap
Presented by Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region at PPLD: Library 21c Colorado Springs, CO
Join us for this unique workshop! Artists have always been instrumental in envisioning new futures, solving complex challenges, and helping communities imagine what is possible. Engaging in the policymaking process at the local, state, and federal levels is an important way to create lasting, systemic change that supports the arts, culture, and creative industries. Presented by Meredith Badler of the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA), this workshop will explore recent developments that have aligned priorities and built momentum for Colorado's arts and culture sector at the state legislature. Participants will gain an overview of Colorado's Arts Policy Framework, an intentional and inclusive advocacy roadmap designed to advance the state's arts, culture, and creative industries. The session will also provide a recap of the 2026 legislative session, including key policy developments and the passage of legislation creating a new business entity specifically designed for artists. Attendees will leave with a stronger understanding of the current advocacy landscape, opportunities for civic engagement, and ways the arts can continue to contribute to community well being, economic vitality, and quality of life throughout the Pikes Peak region and across Colorado. This presentation is hosted by the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region in partnership with the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts.
