PPLD Summer Adventure Celebration Concert featuring Jodi Koplin

Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) is changing its Summer Adventure Celebrations, presented by Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District, to a series of concert celebrations spread throughout the two-month reading program. This exciting new line up kicks off June 1st at Library 21c and East Library with two concerts at each location. While you are there, don’t forget to register for Summer Adventure and pick up your registration prizes! The concert celebrations kick off opening day of Summer Adventure, Mon., June 1, at East Library and Library 21c. There will be a total of four concerts that day, at 2 p.m. and at 3:30 p.m. at both locations. The celebrations continue at 10:30 a.m. at High Prairie Library on Sat., June 13, and at 6 p.m. on Fri., July 10, at Palmer Lake Library. Both concerts mark the mid-point of the program, which encourages families – adults and children alike – to read together to avoid the summer slump of lost reading skills during the break from school. The musical fun wraps up at Fountain Library at 10:30 a.m. on Fri., July 17, and at 6 p.m. on Wed., July 29 at Manitou Springs Library. Summer Concerts at Gold Hill Mesa

The band features nine seasoned female members from popular Colorado bands who play, sing, and groove to classic songs we all love . Their musicianship is top notch, their lead vocals and harmonies will melt your heart. Come see for yourself, these powerful musicians and vocalists blending their collective talents to bring out the “Groove Goddess” in You! The set list will make you want to dance and sing along, so bring your best friends for a celebration of women in music. Our fearless leader bassist Jodie Woodward dreamed up this women centric event to shine a light on women in the Colorado music scene. We have been joining forces for many years under many different band names including Women Rock The Night, Ladies Sing the Blues, All-Star Female Revue and Hermonious. We have graced the stages of the Buffalo Rose, Niwot Rock and Rails, Nissi’s, and the Boulder Creek Festival, just to name a few. We are bonded by our love of music and friendship in an industry where we have been overlooked and underestimated. We collaborate for a cause, We are strong, but we are stronger together! The Pikes Peak Apex is a premier multi-day mountain bike race that attracts elite and amateur cyclists to Colorado Springs each year, offering an intense challenge through some of the most rugged and beautiful terrain in the area. Riders tackle a variety of courses that include steep climbs, technical descents, and scenic singletrack trails, with each stage designed to push their limits and test their endurance. The event culminates in a thrilling ascent of Pikes Peak itself, providing participants with a chance to conquer one of the most iconic and demanding summits in the United States. This race not only highlights the athleticism of participants but also showcases the breathtaking landscape surrounding Colorado Springs, including the diverse trails of the Pikes Peak region. Pikes Peak Pride Festival & Parade

Tens of thousands of visitors will gather from Colorado and the Pikes Peak Region. Two full days of festival activities to include over 150 vendors, a cocktail lounge, youth square and over 25 live entertainment acts. On Sunday, the annual Pikes Peak Pride Parade will fill the streets of Tejon with Vibrant floats enthusiastic marchers, lively music and a myriad of other attractions. Our desire is to foster a festival where people feel safe, accepted, and supported while raising awareness for issues facing LGBTQ+ people living in the Pikes Peak Region. CC Summer Music Festival: Children's Orchestra Concert

The classic children's tale is performed by the Festival Orchestra, along with celebrated mime Bill Bowers and narrator Virginia Barron, and accompanied by Bemis student artwork. Hailed by critics as the most accomplished and renowned mime of his generation, Bowers currently performs and teaches the art of physical storytelling throughout the world. His methods and exploration of universal truths transcend the spoken word to educate and touch audiences. A passionate student and educator, Bowers studied with the legendary Marcel Marceau and currently serves on the faculties of New York University, Stella Adler Conservatory, and William Esper Studios. Victor Gem & Mineral Show

The annual Victor Gem & Mineral Show presented by the Southern Teller County Focus Group (STCFG) in Victor, Colorado will be held June 19-21. The event offers a unique way to spend Father’s Day weekend in the mountains. Bring Dad to Victor, find a pet rock, learn to pan for gold, and take in some free live music. The show will be held in downtown historic Victor and is open and free to the public. The show will include vendors selling polished gems, hand-crafted jewelry, rough slabs, specimens, cabochons, geodes, turquoise, and more. There will also be gold and gem panning at the Victor Lowell Thomas Museum. Show hours are from 9 to 5 Friday and Saturday and 9-4 on Sunday. Saturday night, June 20, the City of Victor will sponsor free live music on the Pinnacle Park Plaza stage. Come enjoy a cold drink and take in the concert, shop for gems and jewelry, and relax in the mountain air. This is the first in a series of summer concerts hosted by the city. Concerts are free and are scheduled for several Saturday nights through August. In addition, the Victor Lowell Thomas Museum gift shop will be open with its collection of rocks, gems, minerals, rhodochrosite and aquamarine jewelry, geodes and the museum hosts gold panning for kids of all ages.
