Curious George: 'The Golden Meatball'

Second Stage Music by John Kavanaugh | Book and Lyrics by Jeremy Desmon George had been waiting all month for All-You-Can-Eat Meatball Day, a day almost bigger than his birthday! But this year, the hungry crowd had vanished! Something was keeping people away… something pretty big. And that something was Phinneas T. Lightspeed and his speedy Meatballs-o-Matic machine. In despair, George’s friend Chef Pisghetti vows to cook no more. Determined to help him, George goes on a mission to enter the Chef’s meatballs in the world-famous Golden Meatball Contest in Rome. Everyone’s favorite mischievous monkey and his friend in the yellow hat sing and dance up a storm in this adventure-filled musical. Curious George is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). Rocky Mountain Rendezvous Walking Festival
Presented by AVA: America's Walking Club and Falcon Wanderers at Drury Hotel Colorado Springs, CO
This is the ninth of 17 events around the United States. Hosted by five Colorado walking clubs, there will be a mix of self-guided and group walks, as well as socials. 5K and 10K walks include Black Forest Regional Park, Paint Mines, Garden of the Gods, Stratton Open Space, City of Gold Mines in Victor, and Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge. All ages and abilities can participate. We welcome the community to join us each day, for a fee of $4 for each walk (one time $6 registration fee). More information is available here. PPLD Summer Adventure Celebration Concert featuring Steve Weeks

Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) is changing its Summer Adventure Celebrations, presented by Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District, to a series of concert celebrations spread throughout the two-month reading program. This exciting new line up kicks off June 1st at Library 21c and East Library with two concerts at each location. While you are there, don’t forget to register for Summer Adventure and pick up your registration prizes! The concert celebrations kick off opening day of Summer Adventure, Mon., June 1, at East Library and Library 21c. There will be a total of four concerts that day, at 2 p.m. and at 3:30 p.m. at both locations. The celebrations continue at 10:30 a.m. at High Prairie Library on Sat., June 13, and at 6 p.m. on Fri., July 10, at Palmer Lake Library. Both concerts mark the mid-point of the program, which encourages families – adults and children alike – to read together to avoid the summer slump of lost reading skills during the break from school. The musical fun wraps up at Fountain Library at 10:30 a.m. on Fri., July 17, and at 6 p.m. on Wed., July 29 at Manitou Springs Library. We provide all the materials, just bring your imagination and sense of fun. Pottery teachers will show you how to use a potting wheel. You can come back the next week to pick up your pot to glaze it and take it home! Hand building is available, too. Write poems with the support of writing mentors using our prompts and other materials to got started. Write group poems with the direction of the mentors. Story and Crafts with Cynde engages children through stories, songs, rhymes, and movement, provides literacy and language development opportunities, and helps foster socialization skills. “Miss Cynde” worked for many years in a public library setting, focusing on programming and services for children, teens, and families, and is excited to share her love of stories and reading. It is appropriate for children ages 4-7, along with their caregiver. Story and Crafts with Cynde is a free program held at Reading at the Rock Library, a community-run library run by COS Reads, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Wednesday Morning Walks in the Garden of the Gods (CANCELLED)

Experience the Park’s natural beauty and unique features by joining this expanded guided nature walk. Participants will enjoy an introduction along Gateway Trail to the Central Garden’s most remarkable sights. The walk will cover about one mile over smooth, paved trails and will typically last around 90 minutes. Upon arrival at the Central Garden, participants may continue with the guide for further exploration, or continue to explore independently. Those who prefer can also return to the Visitor Center with the guide. Weather dependent.
