Kids will love the hands-on activities including steer roping, a Western dress-up contest, the Kid’s Corral with a variety of activities and a petting zoo. The community is invited to join Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the Mary Starsmore Discovery Plaza at the Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center. This event honors the enduring legacy of Mary Starsmore, whose dedication to environmental education and stewardship helped shape the Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center into a beloved community resource. Festivities and celebrations include a birthday cake and party for Mary Starsmore’s 124th birthday. History programs will continue throughout the day. The new Discovery Plaza provides an inviting outdoor gathering and learning space that enhances visitor experiences while supporting the center's mission.
