Star Party

Join us and Colorado Springs Astronomical Society (CSASTRO) for an after-hours, lights-out star party in our parking lot! Our CSASTRO Members will be bringing out their personal telescopes and other observing instruments to share views of the night sky with attendees. The Moon will be half full (1st Quarter) and we should also be able to view the planets Jupiter and Venus as well as colorful stars, star clusters, nebula and perhaps a galaxy or two. Eco-locators will be provided to hear bat calls as we watch them hunt and navigate the night sky. Meet at the admission hut for Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site. Walking is along a flat, mostly paved even surface with a total distance less than ½ mile. Dress for the evening weather. Parking available at parking lot #1 and at Rock Ledge Ranch. No Refunds. Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) is changing its Summer Adventure Celebrations, presented by Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District, to a series of concert celebrations spread throughout the two-month reading program. This exciting new line up kicks off June 1st at Library 21c and East Library with two concerts at each location. While you are there, don’t forget to register for Summer Adventure and pick up your registration prizes! The concert celebrations kick off opening day of Summer Adventure, Mon., June 1, at East Library and Library 21c. There will be a total of four concerts that day, at 2 p.m. and at 3:30 p.m. at both locations. The celebrations continue at 10:30 a.m. at High Prairie Library on Sat., June 13, and at 6 p.m. on Fri., July 10, at Palmer Lake Library. Both concerts mark the mid-point of the program, which encourages families – adults and children alike – to read together to avoid the summer slump of lost reading skills during the break from school.
