Presented by Pikes Peak Library District at High Prairie Library Falcon, CO
Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) is changing its Summer Adventure Celebrations, presented by Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District, to a series of concert celebrations spread throughout the two-month reading program. This exciting new line up kicks off June 1st at Library 21c and East Library with two concerts at each location. While you are there, don’t forget to register for Summer Adventure and pick up your registration prizes! The concert celebrations kick off opening day of Summer Adventure, Mon., June 1, at East Library and Library 21c. There will be a total of four concerts that day, at 2 p.m. and at 3:30 p.m. at both locations. The celebrations continue at 10:30 a.m. at High Prairie Library on Sat., June 13, and at 6 p.m. on Fri., July 10, at Palmer Lake Library. Both concerts mark the mid-point of the program, which encourages families – adults and children alike – to read together to avoid the summer slump of lost reading skills during the break from school. The goal is to have more families celebrating together during the summer! Join us and Unearth a Story™! Summer Concerts at Gold Hill Mesa
Presented by A Music Company Inc. at Gold Hill Mesa Community Center Colorado Springs, CO
The band features nine seasoned female members from popular Colorado bands who play, sing, and groove to classic songs we all love . Their musicianship is top notch, their lead vocals and harmonies will melt your heart. Come see for yourself, these powerful musicians and vocalists blending their collective talents to bring out the “Groove Goddess” in You! The set list will make you want to dance and sing along, so bring your best friends for a celebration of women in music. We have been joining forces for many years under many different band names including Women Rock The Night, Ladies Sing the Blues, All-Star Female Revue and Hermonious. We have graced the stages of the Buffalo Rose, Niwot Rock and Rails, Nissi’s, and the Boulder Creek Festival, just to name a few. We are bonded by our love of music and friendship in an industry where we have been overlooked and underestimated. We collaborate for a cause, We are strong, but we are stronger together! Food trucks and Alcohol (21 +) will be available. Don't forget to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. This is a free event for all ages! Presented by Common Root Collective at Mush Love, Tee Colorado Springs, CO
This is a self-guided, all-day event taking place across Old Colorado City and Downtown Colorado Springs, with creative activities building in the weeks leading up to June 13. Game of Shrooms is a free, global art-n-seek event and worldwide scavenger hunt created by artist Daniel “Attaboy” Seifert, celebrating independent artists and creative exploration. Participants can explore public spaces in search of hidden pieces—if you find one, it’s yours to keep. To take part, follow participating artists as they release clues throughout the day. Clues may include close-up images, hints, or general location references to help guide seekers. Each artwork is original, tagged by the artist, and part of a global movement happening simultaneously around the world. Common Root Collective (CRC) will host free, donation-based mushroom art decorating sessions at local shops and community organizations ahead of the event, along with family-friendly interactive activities, free art, and photo opportunities on June 13. Participants are invited to stop by, connect, and learn more about our work in building access to healing through art. Follow along @commonrootco and visit www.crcollect.org for updates, resources, and ways to get involved. Participants can access an interactive map highlighting featured locations, participating shops, and optional “side quests” throughout Old Colorado City. Pikes Peak Regional History Symposium
Presented by Pikes Peak Library District at PPLD: East Library Colorado Springs, CO
A powerful reexamination of William Jackson Palmer looks beyond the familiar story to uncover his broader impact on Colorado and beyond. A fresh look at the Cripple Creek miners’ strike captures a turning point that reshaped labor in the state. The political battles behind Amendments 1 and 2 in 1992 reveal how Colorado Springs helped drive changes that still define Colorado politics today. New perspectives on Zebulon Pike challenge what we think we know about his expedition. The fight for water in Colorado Springs takes center stage as a defining struggle that helped set lasting precedents across the state. At Evergreen Cemetery, overlooked figures emerge whose lives left a lasting mark on Colorado’s early history. And in the story of Margaret Reid and the Pikes Peak Library District, a local vision becomes a model that reshaped library service across Colorado. This two-part event takes on some of the biggest questions in Colorado history and shows how those answers were shaped right here in the Pikes Peak region.
