Cripple Creek Memorial Day Observance

Please join the American Legion Post 171 for a Memorial Day Observance on May 25 from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm as we come together to honor the men and women who gave everything for our freedom. The program will include a welcome from the Commander, prayer, guest speakers, wreath laying, a bell ringing to honor the fallen, a moment of silence, Taps performed by a bugler, and a flag raising at noon, followed by a closing prayer. If you would like to donate flowers or a wreath to the ceremony, please contact [email protected] After the ceremony, continue the day by heading to the Donkey Release. Donkey Release

Since 1931, the Two Mile High Club has cared for Cripple Creek’s beloved and historic herd of donkeys - living symbols of “The World’s Greatest Gold Camp.” Celebrate this heartwarming tradition as the donkeys return from winter pasture, parading down C Street and Thurlow Avenue led by TMHC Wranglers. Special Appearance: “President Teddy Roosevelt” Food: Burgers by the Cripple Creek Elks Honoring our Service Members Old-fashioned family fun for all ages as we celebrate America's 250th anniversary and Colorado's 150th! All proceeds support the donkeys’ care and future projects, including a new barn. Come welcome the herd home!
