Miramont Castle Museum

The snapshot

Get lost in the best way possible. Miramont Castle Museum winds through 30+ rooms of Victorian grandeur—stone archways, hidden nooks, and a tea room that feels like stepping back in time.

The full experience

Climb the hillside above Manitou Springs and step into 1890. Miramont Castle Museum rises from the mountainside like something out of a storybook—stone walls, arched doorways, and over a century of secrets waiting inside.

Wander Through 14,000 Square Feet of Wonder

Every room holds a surprise. Turn a corner into an eight-sided chamber. Climb a grand staircase and find yourself in a sun-drenched solarium. Run your hand along rich wood trim as you pass through arched doorways into sixteen-sided rooms you didn’t know existed. The details reward those who look closely—carved woodwork here, antique flourishes there.

In summer, the gardens pull you outside. Flowers spill from beds along stone pathways, and the castle rises behind you, begging to be photographed from every angle.

History Within History

The artifacts tell stories within stories. Stand before vintage fire equipment and imagine the alarms of another era. Examine war memorabilia up close. Trace your finger across mid-1800s maps and study photographs from the twelfth Nuremberg trial, presided over by Colorado Springs’ own John C. Young. Each room offers a new window into the past.

Linger Over Tea in the Queen’s Parlour

When you’ve wandered your fill, sink into a velvet chair in the Queen’s Parlour Tearoom. Sip from fine china as homemade scones arrive warm, accompanied by fresh cream and your choice of fragrant teas. The room wraps around you—lush Victorian elegance, unhurried and indulgent.

Reservations are required for High Tea and Light Tea (book at least 24 hours ahead). No museum admission is needed to visit the tearoom, though you can add discounted castle admission to your tea experience.

Events That Transport You

Miramont Castle comes alive throughout the year with events that go beyond the ordinary. Creep through candlelit corridors during a Friday the 13th Midnight Tour. Attend Emma Crawford’s Victorian Wake for an evening of gothic intrigue. Celebrate Mother’s Day with a tea service fit for royalty, or dress in your finest for an elegant Christmas celebration that fills the castle with warmth and wonder. Valentine’s Day brings romance to the tearoom with a special High Tea for two.

These events sell out quickly—follow Miramont Castle on Facebook (facebook.com/miramontcastlemuseum) to catch announcements the moment they drop.

The castle is built into the hillside of Manitou, so the terrain around the castle is pretty steep. There are three stairs to get into the front door, but there is also a ramp that takes you into a side door, where a chairlift assists with the three flights of stairs to the upper levels of the castle. Please call ahead if you need assistance.

Guided tours are available for groups of five or more by reservation only.

Be sure to make reservations for the Victorian High Teas.

What we love (and you will too)

    Your Local Guide, Peter Cole

Peter is always looking - looking for an answer to a question he doesn't know, looking for something new to learn or looking for the best place to try some new cuisine.

There's nothing like Miramont Castle in the region. It's so well preserved and is extra magical when it's decorated for Christmas.

    Stay for Tea!

I am usually a coffee guy, but nothing beats a big pot of the Chocolate Cherry Bomb tea, paired with scones, homemade preserves and clotted cream. YUM!
